Introduction

Other Family Migration visas include Aged Dependent Relative, Remaining Relative and Carer visas.

Some visa classes within the this stream are subject to being capped and queued. These visas may have extensive waiting periods and this may affect your decision to apply for one of these visas.  For more information on capping and queueing, please click here.

If you are resident of Brazil, you must lodge your Other Family visa application at the Home Affairs office at the Australian Embassy in Brasilia.

Visa Options

The Aged Dependent Relative (subclass 114) visa is for those applicants who are either never married, widowed, divorced or formally separated and are dependent upon an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. The applicant must be old enough to be granted an old age pension under the Social Security Act 1991.

The Remaining Relative (subclass 115) visa is for those applicants who are the child or sibling of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen usually resident in Australia, and have no other parent or sibling residing outside Australia.

The Carer (subclass 116) visa is for those applicants who have a close family relative who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, with a medical condition for which Bupa Medical Visa Services has assessed as being a one which significantly affects them in attending to the practical aspects of their daily life and which will need direct care for at least two years.

Document Checklist

It is important that you submit all supporting documents with your application at the time of lodgement to avoid any delays with the processing of your application.

Certified copies of documents are not required for applications lodged online.  In all cases, you should provide high quality scanned copies of the original documents. 

Any material submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied with an English translation from an official translator.  Please click here for information on translating documents not in English.
