Where to apply
Generally you will be able to apply for your visa online. Where available this is the quickest and easiest option. The Department of Home Affairs encourages clients to use online services where available.
Applying online
ImmiAccount is the front door to our online services. You need to use ImmiAccount if you want to:
- apply for a visa or citizenship online
- access the My Health Declarations service
- continue a saved online application
- import a paper application (service available for certain visa subclasses only)
- attach documents to an online or imported paper application
- update application details online
- access Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) for organisations (organisations accounts only) and LEGENDcom.

Travelling in a group
If you intend to travel to Australia in a group, whether for tourism (with family and/or friends) or business (with colleagues and associates) purposes, it is very important that you include a list of the people with whom you will be travelling. Please ensure you enter the name of the group so your application can be processed together. This will also avoid requesting unnecessary information.
Applying by mail
If you are lodging a transit visa, child visa, other family visa or New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship visa, then you should apply by mail or courier at the Australian Embassy Brasilia.
Visa Application Charges
For comprehensive information about visa application charges for all types of visas, visit the Department of Home Affairs website at Fees and Charges for visas.
